Megan Sue had a very sweet disposition but suffered from separation anxiety when she was away from me. Luckily, I owned a small business and she came to work with me a lot. She would lay behind the desk and when customers would be ready to check-out, they would see her. They never knew she was there. She was not a "barker" and loved everyone she met.

One night I was working late at the store and Megan was at home by herself. I got a call from my neighbor saying Megan was sitting on my front porch. I asked, "are you sure it is Megan? She's in the house." The neighbor said she was sure. Her son had called Megan over to their house.

I closed the store early and raced home to find Megan with the neighbors in their driveway. I am trying to figure out how she got out of the house. Did she run out when I opened the garage door? I thought I would have seen her. I gathered Megan up, thanked the neighbors, especially their 5-year-old son who knew it was her. We returned to the house, I am still trying to figure out how she got out. I walked upstairs to the bedrooms and there I saw it. She had pushed the screen out of the back bedroom and jumped out a story and a half into the backyard. Yes...she jumped! Yes...she survived again!

She didn't appear to be hurt, but to be safe, I took her the next morning to the vet for a check. No broken bones. Unbelievable! Dr. Leed couldn't believe it. This little dog that survived an arsenic drip to kill heartworms has now jumped out a window from a story and a half house and survived...again! Needless to say, when I left her at home, all the windows were shut. No more open windows for Megan.

One day I was doing some filing and came across Megan's American Kennel Club (AKC) papers. Low and behold, her maternal grandmother was a champion show dog. Her name was...wait...The Flying Witch. Yes, you read it right. I asked the AKC to change her registration from Megan Sue to Megan Sue the Flying Witch. A name she wore proudly!
