Megan Sue, a brindle Scottish Terrier, was a true hunter. I would often refer to her as my digger dog. And dig she did. I worked hard to keep my lawn nice, mowing it often. Weekends and evenings were spent in the yard gardening when weather permitted. Megan was always with me.

When she was about three years old, she began to dig holes and I mean big holes in the front yard. Everyday I would go out and try to return the moved earth into the hole and pat down whatever sod was left behind. If you have ever seen the movie Groundhog Day, that's what my yard looked like. Holes and dirt everywhere...until...

One day I opened up the front door to leave Megan in from doing her business. She was sitting on the front porch with a present for her mama. It laid at her feet as still as could be. It was a mole! She had finally caught the culprit who invaded her yard. Her job was done and she never dug another hole after that.
