Megan made another getaway one day. She was tied out back to do her business in the morning. Went to get her and she was gone. This time she broke her chain and was on the run. I searched that neighborhood high and low. No Megan Sue. I had to get to work and thought I will go home at lunch since I lived close to where I worked.

At noon, I headed home and drove up and down the streets looking for her. I thought how difficult would it be to find a Scottie dog with a collar, chain, with a brightly colored Halloween scarf. I had no luck, but I did have an idea. I would leave a note on my front door and on my mailbox to let folks know if they saw her, where she lived and to please give me a call. No phone calls came. When I returned home it was dark. I knew it would be impossible to see a dark Scottie dog then. I walked around the neighborhood calling for her to no avail. I put food and water out in the front and back of my house in case she found her way home.

I did not sleep that night. Worried that I would never see her again. As soon as it was a little light out, I drove the neighborhood again. No Megan Sue. I went home for lunch again to search. This time I ran into the postman. He had seen my note and said he had seen her the day before sitting in a neighbors front yard by the street light. How could I have missed her? I walked past that house three to four times. I went to the house, they had taken her in. She was playing and having fun with her two new best friends, Gretchen and Gretchen, two Dachshunds.

The next week, a six foot privacy fence was built. She would not escape again.
